Bunker Hill’s View of Broadway

Orpheum as Club House: The City Club on Bunker Hill considers itself to be “the premier business club of Los Angeles” and says its offers a “a rich calendar of social and business events for our diverse membership while maintaining a commitment to active civic engagement.” All of that entails efforts by the City Club's Heritage Committee to “provide experiences for members and their families which foster recognition and appreciation of the history and heritage of Los Angeles and its people.” The next stop on that mission is the Orpheum Theatre on the 800 block of S. Broadway, where the organization will present a panel discussion on Broadway’s history and current efforts taking shape through 14th District Los Angeles City Councilmember Jose Huizar’s Bringing Back Broadway initiative. Joining Huizar for the panel discussion will be: Linda Dishman, executive director of the Los Angeles Conservancy, Tara Jones of National Preservation Partners, and Lillian Burkenheim of the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles. The event is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, and admission is free. Call (213) 620-0895 for more information.
