Clean-Up Connection: 13th District Los Angeles City Councilmember Eric Garcetti (back row, second from right) joined members of the L.A. Conservation Corps’ River Keepers program on November 8 for a day of painting out graffiti and clearing brush at the Los Angeles River Bicycle Park. The park is located in the Elysian Valley district, which is situated between Riverside Drive and the Los Angeles River, north of Downtown—an area also known as Frogtown. Garcetti represents the Elysian Valley and portions of several adjacent districts, including Echo Park and Silverlake (see related story, above). He hosted the recent “Day at the River,” which included residents of the area and representatives of various government agencies and non-profit organizations that oversee and support environmental efforts on the waterway.
